At VASS, inclusion isn’t just a concept—it’s a daily practice embedded in our culture.
On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, VASS reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and diversity—cornerstones of our Think. Act. Achieve. ESG strategy.
A recent United Nations report on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities reveals that only about one-third of working-age individuals with disabilities are employed—roughly half the employment rate of individuals without disabilities. This reality motivates us to create diverse and inclusive workplaces where everyone can develop their full potential without barriers.
A Journey Built on Trust
At VASS, trust in people has been integral from the very beginning. This trust empowers all VASS Players, providing the support they need to thrive in their roles, regardless of their abilities. Héctor Rodríguez, Marketing Specialist at Serbatic, a VASS Company, shares his experience:
"I joined Serbatic completely by chance for my internship—I wasn’t even initially assigned here. But sometimes life places you in the right spot at the right time. Now, a year and a half later, this has been an unparalleled first work experience. From the start, VASS has fully trusted me, giving me countless opportunities to learn and grow in such an expansive ecosystem."
Real Inclusion in Practice
At VASS, inclusion isn’t just a concept—it’s a daily practice embedded in our culture:
"There are numerous actions at VASS that promote inclusion both internally and externally. However, as someone with a disability, what truly matters is that the team recognizes they don’t need to treat me differently. That’s what genuine inclusion looks like."
Adapting to Each VASS Player
VASS understands that everyone's needs are unique and works to remove barriers of all kinds. Accessibility isn’t just about infrastructure—it’s about fostering a culture of mutual support and collaboration:
"In my case, I didn’t require major accommodations—just accessible office facilities, adapted restrooms, and support from teammates for tasks I can’t physically manage. Sometimes, there’s a stigma or fear around hiring people with disabilities, based on the belief that extensive adaptations are required. But in many cases, that’s simply not true."
Flexibility That Makes a Difference
Flexibility is essential at VASS, enabling employees to achieve a healthy work-life balance. Héctor highlights the impact this has had on his day-to-day:
"SmartWorking and the flexibility offered by VASS have been key for me, helping me manage my mobility challenges and adapt my schedule to meet the specific needs of my condition. This flexibility has truly been a game-changer."
Inspiring Growth and Leading by Example
At VASS, we recognize that everyone’s career journey is unique. We’re committed to fostering continuous learning and professional development, helping VASS Players reach their full potential. Héctor reflects on his aspirations:
"Though I work in marketing, I’m not one for planning everything ahead. I prefer to improvise—I’m usually good at that. Right now, I feel comfortable and fulfilled here, and I look forward to continuing to grow within this ecosystem by gaining new skills, knowledge, and, hopefully, greater responsibilities."
Having role models is also key to inspiring others. Héctor emphasizes the importance of seeing others succeed in inclusive environments:
"Having role models is essential. When people see someone achieve what they aspire to, it motivates not only individuals but also companies to keep including people like me."
At VASS, inclusion isn’t a destination—it’s an ongoing journey. We remain committed to ensuring that everyone finds in VASS a place where they can grow, contribute, and reach their maximum potential. Diversity is our greatest strength, and building an inclusive future is both our responsibility and our promise. Because at VASS, Together we are greater.
