Migrating Over 15 Websites to AEM Cloud in Less Than 3 Months for GVB

Gebäudeversicherung Bern (GVB)

Gebäudeversicherung Bern (GVB) is the building insurance institution of the Canton of Bern.

Established in 1807, GVB insures all buildings and real estate within the canton against fire and natural hazard damage, fulfilling its legal mandate.

Beyond insurance, GVB also assumes the role of supervisory authority for the Bernese Fire Departments, upholding rigorous standards in fire protection.

The enactment of the revised Building Insurance Act in 2010 granted GVB expanded entrepreneurial freedom, establishing two subsidiaries: GVB Privatversicherungen AG and GVB Services AG. A third subsidiary, SafeT Swiss AG, was later formed.

GVB’s digital presence encompassed over 15 websites managed through Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) on-premise, including hausinfo, Wetter-Alarm, GVB Private Insurance, and others.

The challenge

Seamless Migration of 15+ Websites to AEM Cloud

GVB’s digital presence encompassed over 15 websites managed through Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) on-premise, including hausinfo, Wetter-Alarm, GVB Private Insurance, and others.

As one of Switzerland’s most frequented websites for homeowners, hausinfo.ch attracts two million visitors annually, offering guides and best practices.

It also serves as a portal directing visitors to GVB’s private insurance offerings.

With the websites being crucial for business continuity, the migration to AEM Cloud needed to be disruption-free.

The objectives were clear:

  • Minimize downtime during the migration
  • Complete the migration of all websites within a three-month timeframe

Additionally, stakeholder management was pivotal, ensuring that the teams accustomed to on-premise solutions were prepared for the transition to cloud-based operations.

Faster, Smarter, Scalable
